  • How To Disassemble: 83xx Curve

    VIDEO OVERVIEW LOCATED AT BOTTOM OF PAGE

    • “cell phone repair tool” (or plastic credit card if you are in a pinch)
    • Torqx Screwdriver
    • Dental pick (or something to use to disconnect wires inside the device)

    Remove the battery cover, battery, MicroSD and SIM Card

    On the bottom of the device, remove the bottom antenna cover

    Remove the two screws located at the top of the device to the left/right of the camera/speaker

    Gently pull the sidebars approximately 1/2 way out from the device

    Use the pick to un-hinge the two clips which are holding the front plate onto the device

    Gently pull the front plate off of the device in an up/away motion.

    Note: You may hear a light ripping sound…This is normal.

    Remove the screws located at the bottom of the device which are holding the sidebars in place, and remove the sidebars from the phone.

    Remove the screws which are holding the keyboard/keys housing, and remove the housing by pulling it up and down towards the bottom of the device.

    Note: You may hear a light ripping sound…This is normal

    Remove the keyboard housing from the device

    Remove the board from the back housing by pulling it out/up.

    Remove the metal plate from around the screen that houses the front speaker piece.

    There is a tab at the top of the board which this fits around.

    Remove the connector for the screen to connect to the board.

    Remove the screen by starting on one side and pulling it up/over towards the other side of the device.

    Note: You may hear a light ripping sound. This is normal.

    IMPORTANT NOTE: When re-assembling the BlackBerry, after the sidebars have been screwed back in and before replacing the front plate, take special note:

    At the top corners of the device, the plastic “holes” for the sidebars should be on TOP (Visible) of the metal plate which surrounds the screen.

    Failure to put those on TOP of will result in a “bowing” of the outer front housing towards the top of the device.
